Summer Sailing Program
at Island Heights Yacht Club
Open to ages 6-18
Since 1951, our program has offered children the opportunity to learn to sail, make new friends, spend time outside and have lots of fun. All within the tried and true environment of the Island Heights Yacht Club. With a sharp focus on safety, the program is designed to teach sailing, seamanship, teamwork, confidence and much more...
We sail Optimist, Laser, FEVA and 420 dinghies, in 7 fleets, broken down by age and ability level.
We purposely limit the size of the program to ensure every child gets the instructor time and mentoring they deserve.
In addition to learning to sail and race a boat, we focus on having fun!
"The principal objective will be to afford new opportunities for pleasure through sailing. The idea will be kept in mind that the fun to be had from boating is in large part proportional to the knowledge one has of it. Therefore, it will be the policy to increase the skills of the younger members in order to give them more enjoyment from their summer and to increase their interest in sailing."
