What time and where is registration and check in?
The registration and Check in will be open at Island Heights Yacht Club from 7:00 to 8:00. The Island Heights Yacht Club is located at 65 River Avenue, Island Heights, NJ 08732.
What time and where does the paddle start?
The starting and finishing lines will be on the Toms River directly in front of the Island Heights Yacht Club.
9:00 am - Start of 3 mile Performance Paddle
9:10 am - Start of 1.5 mile Fun Paddle
Where is the watercraft drop-off? Where can I park my car?
When paddlers arrive In Island Heights, they will drive to Simpson Avenue off Ocean Avenue. This is a one-way street. Making loading and unloading easy is a priority, we ask that you follow the signs to the unloading area, where watercraft may be staged on the day of racing.Do not drop off watercraft prior to 7:00 AM on July 26th. Paddlers may park their vehicles at any available street parking.
What equipment is needed?
You must supply your own equipment (or click here to rent equipment) all participants must wear a Coast Guard approved life jacket at all times while on the water. Spectators under age 8 must also wear a life jacket while on the dock at IHYC.
What happens if the weather is bad?
If there is a light drizzle and/or moderate winds, we will continue with the race as planned. If there is thunder and lightning or high winds, we will cancel the race. Because of permitting, scheduling of vendors, and other requirements of preparation, we are unable to have a rain date, nor are we able to provide refunds. We thank you for your understanding.
Do all paddlers get event T-shirts?
Yes, every paddle registration includes the t-shirt. Additional Paddle Palooza merchandise may be ordered with your registration.
Can I register on the day of the event?
Yes, participants are welcome to register on the day of the race at the Island Heights Yacht Club, however we cannot guarantee that a shirt will be available for you. You will not receive the early registration discount. Cost of registration on race day is $45/single, $80/double.
What water-craft categories will be paddled?
There are 5 categories in both the 3 mile Performance Race and the 1.5 mile Fun Paddle.
- Single kayak under 17 feet
- Single kayak over 17 feet
- Double kayak
- Single canoe
- Double canoe
- Stand Up Paddle Board
Tell me about the awards?
Awards ceremony will take place after lunch (approx. 12 noon). Medals will be awarded for both races, for each watercraft category, for males and females in both age categories (age 12-18 and 19+). Double kayaks and double canoes will receive overall winners, in each race.
Can a child under 12 participate in a double kayak or canoe?
Only children 12+ may participate in the event.
Can I participate in the both paddles?
No, the 3 mile Performance Paddle will start at 9:00 am and the Fun Paddle will start at 9:10 am.
